The game is set in a real war. In November 755, the Tang dynasty general An Lushan rebelled, plunging the realm into crisis — the game’s own opening premise, and genuine history. The An Shi Rebellion (755–763) became one of the deadliest civil wars in world history. (Setting: official Steam page; historical outline below: public historical record.)

An Lushan’s Revolt (historical record)

An Lushan was a Tang military governor who commanded large frontier forces. In winter 755 he rose in rebellion, captured the eastern capital Luoyang, and in 756 forced the Tang court to flee — the emperor Xuanzong’s flight to Shu and the death of Yang Guifei en route are among the most retold episodes in Chinese history. The rebellion was ultimately quelled, but the Tang Empire never fully recovered its former strength.

Shuofang and the Tang Response (historical record)

The Shuofang command was one of the Tang frontier military regions, and its armies played a central role in the loyalist fightback — including the recovery of the capitals. Playing its acting Military Governor (official game premise) puts you at a historically decisive command.

FAQ

Do I need to know the history to play? No — but it enriches the campaign. (community note)

Is the game historically accurate? The setting and premise follow history; gameplay systems take liberties. Judge in-game events on their own terms. (community estimate)
